Texas’ Inaugural Girls in STEM Day

On Sunday March 1, 2020 State Representative Rhetta Andrews Bowers (HD 113) kicked off the inaugural “Texas Girls in STEM Day.” I was very excited to attend this event. As a Geophysicist who majored in Mathematics, I hold STEM very dear to my heart. I love opportunities like this where women in STEM are able to share their knowledge with young girls and connect with fellow STEM leaders.

Representative Bowers authored House Bill 3435, which declares March 1st of every year as “Texas Girls in STEM Day,” to highlight women in STEM and inspire young girls to embrace and enter fields relating to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Hosted along with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, the event included family fun for all ages and an interactive scavenger hunt of Camp Whispering Cedars.

Thank you to Representative Bowers for recognizing individuals in attendance as representation of Women in STEM and support for future generations.
